A health professional who performs diagnostic examinations in invasive cardiology, noninvasive cardiology, or peripheral vascular study on request or direction of a physician is known as a cardiovascular technologist and technician. On the basis of data collection and recording, cardiovascular technologists gather information from which a correct physiologic and anatomic diagnosis may be done for each patient. They assist the physician in diagnosing and treating heart and blood vessel ailments. On the basis of their specialties, they perform Holter monitor and stress testing, operate electrocardiograph machines, and assist in cardiac catheterization and ultrasound testing. This helps the physicians diagnose and monitor heart disease during treatment.
For a cardiologist technologist and technician one needs at least a high school diploma or equivalent to enter the field. During high school, you should take English, health, biology, and typing so that you have a strong base for further studies in this field.
