Who is a Petroleum Engineer and what does he/she do?

Petroleum engineering discipline consists of application of behavioral properties of hydrocarbons and extraction of petroleum deposits underneath the earth's crust. These processes fall under the oil and gas industry which essentially consists of exploring and processing hydrocarbon materials.

Petroleum engineers normally work in reservoirs, drilling operations, exploration of crude oil deposits, and also as production engineers in the field of oil and gas exploration. This is one of the best paying jobs worldwide.

Qualifications Required

M.Eng. or a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in petroleum engineering or even an accredited BSc degree in petroleum engineering.
