Surveyors and Surveying Technicians refer to many diversified activities such as marine, construction, hydrography, civil, mechanical, etc. basically, they are involved in mapping the landscape form one or more points to another for measuring distances accurately. Surveyors apply principles from geometry, laws of physics, civil, trigonometry to determine the ultimate distances between three points which may be planar or non planar. They must be able to use advanced scientific instruments with utmost accuracy and precision.
They also carry out project monitoring activities, restoration of historical monuments, preservation of buildings, etc. Some professional land surveyors require to possess licensing for land surveying through state licensing board like National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
M.S., M.S.E., or M.Eng. Or a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in civil engineering, sometimes they are requied to pass certain examinations like Land Survey Examinations.
