Who is a Optician and what does he/she do?

An optician designs and fits the lenses for rectifying a person’s vision. Opticians are desired to have strong knowledge in the field of optical sciences. An optician will ask for consumer’s consent before actually going for the core design of the lenses.

Most opticians prefer to work individually, although some work in eye hospitals and research laboratories. An Optician has to undergo training for a period ranging from 6 months to one year. Retail organizations and optical labs provide training for a stipulated period as interns.

Qualifications Required

A master’s or a bachelor’s degree in optical sciences, apart from a high school diploma or GED certificate is recommended.
