A health services manager manages the supply chain in the health service industry. They plan, co ordinate and implement plan of action for the supervision of health care of the general public. Most of them work as physicians and also undertake outcall and in patient call services.
Health service managers need to keep themselves updated in the field of medicine such as diagnosis using technology to use more sophisticated medical devices, data processing and storage technology etc. Health services manager are normally required to serve one year service in the health care industry before attaining master’s degree. Sometimes, they are supposed to be fully engaged in assisting medical staff and doctors in case of emergency situations.
A master’s or a bachelor’s degree in health services administration, health care sciences, public health and administration is recommended.
