Drafter

Who is a Drafter and what does he/she do?

Drafters prepare blueprint of technical drawings of building constructions and present it to the builder or contractor. The blueprint enables the builder and contractor to visualize as to how will the final outputs of the project will look. Such drawing provide in depth details of building constructions like dimensions, materials used and the procedures involved. Drafters also use computer aided tools like CADD, Catia, etc. Drafter jobs comprise major part of the recreational activity and can transfer or recollect knowledge from various fields including nature, geography, history, politics, social sciences, space sciences, etc.

The average number of work hours in the arts industry is approx 28 hours per week as compared to 34 hours per week in other industries. Many specialize in specific subjects like airlines, civil, mechanical, materials, electronics, etc.

Qualifications Required

A master's or a PhD degree in subjects such as graphic designing. Employers prefer atleast post secondary training in drafting.
