A Hospital Administrator manages the supply chain in the health service industry. Hospital administrators plan, co ordinate and implement plan of action for the supervision of health care of the general public through administrative measures such as sufficient inventory for first aid, adequate medical care for patients, training doctors, interns, medical students, to make sure that health care organizations such as hospitals and clinics are operating smoothly throughout the year.
Some of them also work as physicians and also undertake outcall and in patient call services. They also form day to day communicators between governing bodies and the hospital staff for effective and efficient co ordination of health care related activities. They are responsible for controlled and organized activity in the health services sector. They are required to be well versed in technological developments such as medical devices, data processing, insurance changes and policies, government norms and rules etc.
A master’s or a bachelor’s degree in health services administration, health care sciences, public health and administration is recommended.
